YOUR DATA
Where everything lives
Arty is a desktop app with no backend of ours. This page is the whole story, not a summary of a longer policy.
Stays on your machine
- Your saved words, with the sentences you met them in
- Books, pasted texts, bookmarks and reading position
- Conversation transcripts and written drafts
- Practice time and streaks
- Your API key, in your operating system's credential store
~/.local/share/arty/arty.db
Leaves your machine
- The text or audio of the turn you are practising, sent to your model provider
- The word or passage you look up, for the same reason
- YouTube requests, when you search or play a video
That traffic goes from your computer to the service you chose, under their terms. Arty is not in the middle of it and keeps no copy.
Things Arty does not do
- No accounts, so there is nothing to log in to and nothing to leak.
- No analytics, no crash reporting, no phone-home version check.
- No ads and no data sold, now or under any future funding model.
If you want to verify any of this rather than take our word for it, the source is public and the network calls are easy to find.
